Three years. That is the amount of time used to create the massive debut of Uncooperative Death’s self-titled album due out on May 9th, 2009. The album is relentless from start to finish, with bone-crushing heavy metal anthems that barely give you time to breath. Uncooperative Death opens with “The Blame”. An eerie and unsettling, almost industrial track sets a mood that sends chills down your spine. Next comes in “Bloody Bathroom”, a fast and aggressive powerhouse about a child being so brutally abused that he has been desensitized of all feeling. “Solanum” punches in as an epic progressive metal masterpiece, with Paul Sarrazin’s throat ripping vocals, Dan Cormier and Tristan Mailman’s head-splitting guitar riffs and Liam McLaughlin’s heavy hitting drums. They let up with a soft and uncomfortable clean section that soon gets destroyed into a harmonizing guitar jam. The next song, “Murderous Apotheosis”, doesn’t even give you time to compose yourself and opens with Liam McLaughlin’s banshee-like screams. “Let Me Bleed” starts with a Dan Cormier heavy riff and doesn’t let up. Pounding drums, blistering guitars, booming bass and frantic vocals make this song a staple in the Uncooperative Death arsenal. Full of time changes, clean vocals with screaming, Tristan Mailman’s heavy growl and catchy guitar riffs, it makes the next track, “Left Behind”, a fan favourite. Paul Sarrazin opens this next track with a crawling bass line with the rest of the band following him. “Chew the Leg Off” is filled with guitar harmonies, time changes, screaming vocals, harmonizing vocals, guitar solos and is the definition of Heavy Metal. The epic “Cavity” opens with an almost angelic acoustic intro until all chaos breaks loose and never let’s up for even a second. “Ambivalent Disclosure” bookends the album with the same chilling feeling started by “The Blame”.
